Sorry to muck you about chaps but given our state of utter exhaustion after 8 hours at the Arnhem game we've come to the conclusion we'd better give this one a miss. Please take us off the list and you can free up a couple of places for other allied players.
Will be at the next one-dayer though.
And starting a get fit regime so we can maybe do a weekender in future.

Boo! If I can do it, you can do it! Book yourself a nice holiday on the Welsh border for the rest of the week to recover. We'll put you on light duties, get a grunt to carry the Bren for you. Don't desert us!
To be a little less frivolous, with such a large site and 24hrs it is impossible for anyone to be careering about like they did at Arnhem - it will be much slower paced, much more considered. It won't be like a marine's training course or a boot camp - it will be more tactical and tense rather than knackering.

Barrie, I promise not to nade you again.... ![]()

That spelling only exists on post war fake cuff titles!
They were known as the British Free Corps (its what their cufftitle said as well, they wanted to be called the legion of st george.
Be a pointless unit to represent as they were purely a propaganda unit that backfired.
Never made it past plattoon strenght and never fired a shot in anger or even saw active service. Purley political move by the SS whihc backfired horribly as two 'volunteers' spent their service in the corps saabotaging it and any unit they got near.
The LAH did however have two British volunteer mechanics captured at dunkirk who later volunteered to fight ffor the reich rather than languish in prison.
Also the 2nd konpanie of brandenburg commandos was composed of german ex pats who'd been living in english spekaing territories.

I was also in a state of utter exhaustion after Arnhem. It won't stop me doing Churchill's though!
After all these big events I just make sure I have a day off work in order to get some extra sleep.

Thanks for the persuasive comments everyone it's nice to feel wanted!
There's a slim chance that when our canvass tent arrives I can persuade Anne that it WILL be waterproof, non-draughty, and creepy-crawly free in which case we may put our names back down.
In the meantime however, we thought it was only fair to let you offer our places to others because it's highly likely we'll be going AWOL.....
Think of the nice scenery you will be missing, check the tourist guide:

I've tried to resist, but the chance of shooting so many Americans is too great.
